New York, NY – The City College Women's Basketball team suffered its first loss of the season on Monday, falling to the College of Mount Saint Vincent, 91-63. Three players scored in double figures.
The Beavers led by as much as four points in the first quarter (20-18) on a good jumper from Erika Redwood at the 01:32 mark.
The second quarter saw CMSV outscore CCNY 25-13 giving them a 6-point cushion at halftime (41-35).
The deficit grew to 13 points midway in the third quarter. The Beavers fought back, bringing the game within a 6-points ( 56-50) after a pair of good free throws by Erica Redwood. The third quarter would end with CMSV leading CCNY 58-50.
The fourth quarter began with both teams going back and fourth making shots. After a layup from CMSV's Dez Browne (06:53), the Dolphins would go on a 27-9 run to end the quarter. The Dolphins would win with a final score of 91-63.
In the game, Erika Richards picked 26 points (on 10-17 shooting) 7 rebounds and 2 steals. Alexis Akridge came off the bench to score 10 points and grab 9 rebounds. Erica Redwood finished with 10 points and 5 rebounds.
The City College Women's Basketball team is now 1-1 on the season. Their next game will be on the road in their first conference game against Lehman College on Tuesday, November 29th, at 7PM.
