The City College of New York men's volleyball team fell 3-1 (25-13, 23-25, 25-17, 25-23) to John Jay on Thursday evening at the Doghouse in New York, New York.

John Jay would quickly take the lead in the first set. City fought hard and chip away at the lead but it would not be enough for the Beavers. The Bloodhounds were able to run away with the score and took the first set 25-13.

It would not be so easy for John Jay in the second set. City came back strong and took control. The Bloodhounds played through and searched for ways to take the second set as they looked for a sweep, but the Beavers would not give up. CCNY came out swining and took the second set 25-23.

Tied 1-1 both teams looked for the victory in the third set that would give them the advantage. It would be John Jay to take the lead first, but City was not far behind as the young team battled. It was a tough third set for both teams, but John Jay took a 2-1 advantage in the match with a 25-17 third set victory.

The fourth set mirrored the second set in most ways. It seemed like City would take the set and force a fifth, but John Jay would not give up easily. It would be a back-and-forth set as both teams came out strong. Unfortunately, John Jay took the fourth set 25-23 to take the match from the Beavers.

Sebastjano Aga led the Beavers with 17 kills, while Edmund He added nine. Cuong Quoc Tran and Aga led with 17 digs, while four other Beavers recorded double-digit digs. Oleksandr Boychuk dished out 22 assists for City. 

City will travel to New Haven, Connecticut to face non-conference opponent Albertus Magnus on Sunday, February 21.
