The City College of New York men's volleyball team was swept 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-16) on Thursday evening. City falls to 7-12, 6-7 in CUNYAC play.
Baruch began the first set on a quick 4-0 run. While City would get started they would trail 6-4. The Bearcats would then go on a 7-0 run to take a big 13-4 lead. CCNY would chip away at the lead, but was unable to stop the Bearcats. Baruch took the first set 25-12.
With both teams starting at zero, City came out strong in the second set. It was a back-and-forth exchange of points as both teams searched to take an advantage. Baruch went on a 4-0 run to take a 17-10 lead that game them the ultimate advantage for the set. CCNY chipped away at the lead but fell in the second set 25-14.
Baruch went out quick to a 9-5 lead in the third set. City would not give up easily and brought themselves to trail only 14-7. The Bearcats continued to add to their lead and force CCNY to catch up. Baruch took the third and final set 25-16.
Tommy Holzmacher led the Beavers with six kills, while
Sebastjano Aga and
Kai Zhao added five a piece.
Oleksandr Boychuk dished out 15 assists and tallied five digs in the loss.
City will travel to face non-conference opponent Regis on Saturday, March 19 at 3 p.m.
