New York, NY - The City College of New York's women's volleyball team fell in straight sets to John Jay Tuesday evening, 3-0. After losing the first set 25-16, the Beavers dropped the second and third with set scores of 25-12 and 25-21 to hand the Beavers their third loss in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play.
The Bloodhounds led the entirety of the first set, sealing it with a 25-16 score. CCNY led early in the second set with a 3-2 lead, the Bloodhounds would score the next four points to go up 6-3. The Beavers would drop the set 25-12. The match came to a close in the third with the Bloodhounds controlling the set, 25-21.
Angela Ubanwa had a double-double with 13 kills 11 digs and one block. Sophomore Emma Rose had a team-high 12 sets. Fellow Junior Veralucia Quispe ended up with 13 assists. Third year player Irishvarsha Lyyadura had a match-high 11 digs. Senior Brigitte Bozer had five digs, two kills and one assist.
The Beavers return to action this Thursday (Sept. 29) when the team travels to play SUNY Purchase. The match is slated for 7:00 pm.
