New York, NY – The City College Men's Basketball started the new year off at the Nat Holman Gymnasium, with a conference victory Wednesday night over John Jay College, 73-59. Five CCNY players scored in double figures.

In the first half, the Lavender and Black started off hot. The team jumped out to a nine point lead (12-3) five minute into the game after a layup from Robbie Dionisio. The Beavers ended the half leading John Jay 40-32.

In the second half, City College's lead grew to 18-points after a basket from Dionisio. The Beavers closed out game with a 14-point lead, securing a 73-59 win.

In the game, four player's finished in double-figures for CCNY. Senior Mark Richards notched 14 points, six rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Senior Robbie Dionisio recorded 11 points, five rebounds and two blocks. Junior Salvatore Palazzolo scored 14-points off the bench. Senior Khalil Hamer added 11-points, six rebounds and six  assists Senior David Solano put 10-points dished three assists.

The Beavers out shot Bloodhounds in the contest 51% to 34%. CCNY held a 4-21 turnover margin and scored 40-points in the paint.

The City College Men's Basketball team is now improves to 5-6 overall and 3-2 in conference play this season. The team will play Brooklyn College next at home on Friday (Jan. 6) at 7:00pm.
