New York, NY - Senior David Solano scored a career-high 26 points in City College men's basketball 75-62 victory over Brooklyn College in conference action at the Nat Holman Gymnasium Friday night.
Solano drained eight-three pointers (9-for-14 from the field) with six rebounds and a steal in 34 minutes. Senior Robbie Dionisio added 15 points, seven rebounds and two steals in 29 minutes played. He was 7-for-13 from the field. Senior Khalil Hamer chipped in nine points, eight assists and four rebounds. Senior Mark Richards posted six points and nine rebounds in the win. Junior Salvatore Palazzolo scored 10-points (5-for-7 from the field) and picked up six boards off the bench.
Brooklyn had two players record 10 or more points led by Maynard Grant IV 28 point effort.
The two teams played a close first half, with Brooklyn leading CCNY 35-34 at the break.
CCNY started the second half off with a 16-to-4 run to take a 11-point lead over the Bulldogs with 13:48 remaining. City College's lead would stretch to 19-points after a layup from David Solano.
The Beavers would out outscore the Bulldogs 41-to-27 in the half to pick up their third consecutive win.
City College nows sits in third place of the CUNYAC standings behind Baruch (4-1) and Hunter (4-1) that are both tied for second place and Staten Island in first place (6-0).
The City College Men's Basketball team brings their record .500 being 6-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play this season. The team will play Medgar Evers on the road Monday night (Jan. 9) at 8:00pm.
