NEW YORK, NY - The CCNY men's basketball team cut a 16-point deficit with just over five minutes to play down to five with under 50 seconds remaining but came up short in a 88-78 defeat to Wesley College Saturday afternoon in non-conference play at the Nat Holman Gymnasium.
Junior
James White netted a new season-high 24 points in the game to lead the Beavers. White shot 9-of-16 from the field with six three-pointers. He added five assists, three rebounds, and a steal in 39 minutes.
Senior
Salvatore Palazzolo added 15 points, eight rebounds, and two assists. Sophomore
Enesco Hunte scored 10 points, along with two steals. Junior
Wils Jazilek had nine points and a season-high five boards in the loss.
Welsey had five double-digit scorers with sophomore Brian Cameron posting 22 points and senior Paul Clemons posting 17.
The Beavers were outshot 46.4%-40.6% and were out-rebounded 51-30 on the glass.
After a four-day break, CCNY is back in action for their first game of the New Year on Jan. 3 at the Nat Holman Gymnasium against Hunter College.
