Throggs Neck, NY - The CCNY men's soccer team fell short of victory Saturday evening, falling to Maritime College in a tight contest, 2-1.
Maritime scored in the 46th minute of play with a goal from junior Parker Gallt. He was able to bank home a shot off a penalty kick to give the Privateers a 1-0 lead early in the second half.
The Privateers would get off another shot in the second half. A header by Anthony Palazzolo would give Maritime a 2-0 lead with less than 34 minutes remaining in play.
CCNY responded with a score in the 86th minute, as junior
Kamaroudine Tchabalandja scored after breaking away from a defender. The Lavender & Black were unable to get another shot to extend the match into overtime.
Tchabalandja led CCNY with three shots, booting two towards goal. Sophomore
Edgar Gutierrez fired two of his own and added one of his shots on goal.
The Lavender & Black's next contest will be this Wednesday (Sept. 6) at Rutgers-Newark. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm.
