JAMAICA, NY - Freshman
Madison LaSalle dropped in a season-high 20 points, including six three-pointers, leading the CCNY women's basketball team to an 89-68 conference win York College on Saturday.
The Beavers now improve to 10-5 overall and 5-3 in league play.
CCNY jumped on York from the opening tip and started the first quarter on a 12-0 run holding the Cardinals scoreless for more than three minutes. That gave the Beavers a 21-16 lead after the first period and CCNY never looked back.
The Beavers forced 27 turnovers, leading to 32 second-chance points by the end of the game.
Including Lasalle, the Beavers had six players in score double figures. Junior
Debra Chan finished with 18 points, three rebounds and a new career-high of nine assists.
Freshman
Crystal Blair had her third double-double of the year with 10 points and 10 boards.
Erica Redwood,
Emily Arias and
Ashley Brooks each scored 11 points. Redwood added seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals, while Arias chipped in three rebounds and two steals and Brooks notched six rebounds and a pair of assists, blocks and steals.
Both
Melanie Torres and
Elizabeth Zullo saw time on the floor, combining for eight points and six steals.
CCNY returns to the court on Monday, Jan. 15, for a road match in the nation's capital against Trinity Washington University.
