New York, NY - In their 2018-19 season opener, the CCNY women's basketball team defeated the Falcons of Cedar Crest College, 61-51.
The Beavers defense was able to force 25 turnovers on Saturday and they turned those into 22 points. The Falcons slightly outrebounded the CCNY 41-40 for the game but the Lavender & Black was able to outscore Delaware 9-8 in second-chance points. The Beavers shot 46.3 % from the floor while Cedar Crest shot 34.5 % from the floor.
Senior
Ashley Brooks had a strong impression start in the first game of the 2018-19 season. The Bronx, NY native ended with a double-double, leading all players with 17 points on 7-for-12 and pulled down 10 rebounds in 33 minutes of action. Senior
Debra Chan netted 10 points, five rebounds, and two steals.
Junior
Aaliyah McCrae scored eight points and came up with four steals in her collegiate debut for the Beavers. Sophomore
Crystal Blair recorded six points, five boards and two steals in the win.
The Beavers play next as they will travel to Purchase, NY for a matchup with Purchase College on Thursday at 7:00 pm.
