New York, N.Y.  – On Friday, the CCNY women's basketball team fell in its 2018 conference-opener against the College of Staten Island, 74-53.

Senior Debra Chan scored 13 points and had three rebounds.  Junior Elizabeth Zullo ended the game with a season-high 12 points off the bench. Senior Ashley Brooks added a team-high nine rebounds. 

CCNY shot just 32.1% from the floor and 27.6 %  from beyond the arc.  

Staten Island was led by Kayla Schmitter with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Devin Mooney and Megan McEwan each had 14 points in the contest. 

The Dolphins shot a 40.3 % from the floor and scored 30 points in the paint.

The Beavers next game is on the road against the Baruch Bearcats on Tuesday, Dec. 4. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.
