New York, N.Y. - The CCNY women's basketball swept the season series against Baruch College on Wednesday, defeating the Bearcats, 67-45, at the Nat Holman Gymnasium. The Beavers improve to 11-8 overall and 6-4 in conference play.
CCNY had control early on in the contest, opening the game with a 19-2 run. The team shot an impressive 58.3% from the field in the quarter and connected on three-of-five from deep.
In the third frame, the Beavers continued the defensive pressure, holding the Bearcats to shot 25.0% from the floor and outscored the Baruch 17-11 in the period.
The Beavers continued to maintain control of the game in the fourth, extending their lead to 23-points (7:30); their largest of the contest.
Senior
Ashley Brooks led the Beavers with her 10
th double-double of the season. Brooks totaled 17 points and 17 rebounds. Senior
Debra Chan matched Brooks with 17 points on the evening while hitting five three-pointers in the contest. Sophomore
Crystal Blair finished with 11 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
Sophomore
Madison LaSalle scored eight points, along with three rebounds and three assists.
Elizabeth Zullo chipped in seven points, three rebounds and four assists.
The team returns back to action against John Jay College on Tuesday, Jan. 29 on the road.
