FREDERICK, MD - The CCNY baseball team dropped two tough contests in a doubleheader with Hood College in their 2018 season opener Saturday afternoon. The Beavers fell 4-0 in the opener before a 3-1 decision in the nightcap.
GAME ONE
Junior
Sardar Khanbilvardi was 1-for-1 to lead the Beavers.
Junior RHP
Cal Romano took the loss allowing three runs on four hits and struck out four batters in four innings of work.
Hood's Nate Luscombe allowed one hit over seven innings with six strikeouts. Both Wayne Baldwin and Dylan Beck were 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI each.
GAME TWO
After falling behind 1-0, the Lavender & Black responded in the top of the fifth inning with a run to tie the game. With one runner on, sophomore

In the bottom of the fifth, the Blazers answered back scoring two runs in the inning. Hood's second run of the game came on an error following a sacrifice bunt to retake the lead. The Blazers later scored to make it 3-1 after their Nathan Kessler grounded out to second before driving in Quinn Fulton for the score.
The Beavers return to the road next weekend for a three-game series starting on Saturday, Mar. 3 at Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA.
