JAMAICA, NY – The CCNY men's volleyball team split a pair of conference matches on Saturday, in a CUNYAC Tri-Match hosted by York College. CCNY swept the Cardinals in straight sets before falling to Hunter in three sets in their final match.
CCNY now stands at 10-5 overall and 2-3 in conference play.
Match One - CCNY vs. York
The Beavers opened the day with a three-set win over York. Sophomore
Carlos Maldonado Madrid had a match-high 17 kills, along with seven digs to lead CCNY's attack. Senior
David Cham recorded nine kills and a match-high 10 digs. Freshman
Hei Chun Chan ended with a match-high 31 assists. Sophomore
Seth Diaz chipped in five kills and one assisted block. Jonathan Liao and
Javier Lazo added six and three service aces respectively, while Lazo picked up five digs.
Match Two - CCNY vs. Hunter
In the second match, Hunter doubled CCNY's kill total, allowing them to take the contest 25-18, 25-9, and 25-8.
Maldonado Madrid and Cham each tied for a team-high five kills. Cham had five digs, Maldonado Madrid contributed three, and Lazo added on five.
CCNY returns to action on Thursday, Mar. 15 at 7:00 PM when NJCU travels to the Nat Holman Gymnasium for a non-conference match.
