Old Westbury, N.Y. - Opening the 2018 season, the CCNY women's volleyball program dropped both of its matches on Friday at the Old Westbury Labor Day Weekend Invitational, hosted by Old Westbury. The Beavers dropped a three-set match to the Panthers in the first matchup of the evening and fell later to SUNY Potsdam in straight sets.
Match One: Old Westbury 3, CCNY 0
Old Westbury took the opening match 25-15, 25-11, and 25-12.
Sophomore
Dzeneta Harambasic led all players with 20 assists in the opener, to go with five digs and four kills.
Cha-Neice Gordan led the floor with nine kills.
Nicole Polanco posted 10 digs and six kills in her CCNY debut.
Match Two: SUNY Potsdam 3, CCNY 0
In the nightcap, SUNY Potsdam defeated the Beavers, 25-15, 25-10, and 25-14.
Junior
Kayla Oge had five kills and two blocks to lead the Beavers. Harambasic finished with nine assists, five digs, and two aces. Gordan notched five digs and three kills, while sophomore
Rachel Ramirez had two blocks.
The Beavers return home on Tuesday, September 4, to host Centenary University at the Nat Holman Gymnasium. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m.
