New York, N.Y. – The City College of New York women's basketball team defeated Trinity Washington University, 102-22, on Sunday afternoon at the Nat Holman Gymnasium. The team was led by six players scoring in double-figures.
CCNY came out of the gates fast going on a 22-3 run to start the game, closing the quarter with a 22-point lead, 25-3. Behind a 70% shooting percentage, the Beavers outscored the Tigers 32-8 in the second frame to own a 57-11 advantage heading into halftime.
In the third quarter, the Lavender & Black extended their lead to as much as 65 points (83-18) towards the end of the quarter. CCNY closed out the fourth quarter strong, tacking on 16 points to break the century mark and allowed only two points on the defensive end, securing a 102-22 win.
Senior
Debra Chan led the Beavers, registering her first double-double of the season, finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds, to go along with six assists and five steals. Senior
Ashley Brooks posted 17 points, eight rebounds, and two steals.
Freshman
Imani Butts notched a double-double, including season-highs of 13 points and 13 rebounds. Sophomore
Madison LaSalle added 16 points and two steals while sophomore
Crystal Blair had 10 points, nine rebounds, and three assists.
Sophomore
Melanie Torres added 11 points, seven rebounds, and four steals off the bench, while junior
Aaliyah McCrae chipped in nine points, three assists, and three steals and rookie
Nahomi Zambrano finished with five points and three rebounds.
