Beavers Fall to John Jay On Senior Day

NEW YORK -- The City College of New York women's soccer team (6-8-0, 3-2-0 CUNYAC) concluded its regular season with a 3-0 loss to John Jay (10-6-1, 5-0-0 CUNYAC) at Randall's Island Field 75 on Saturday.  Prior to the match, the Beavers honored their five seniors--Susan Aracena (Riverdale, NY), Gabrielle Duchaussee (Saratoga Springs, NY), Catherine Langkamp (Bronx, NY), Laura Rodriguez (Valley Stream, NY) and Dina Sayd (Brooklyn, NY).

Both teams entered the contest with CUNYAC Tournament berths already secured.  However, there was still plenty to play for, as matchups and seedings had not yet been determined.

John Jay got on the board in the 19th minute, when Jillian Golden followed Jaime Bilotti's shot and put it into the lower right corner.  Ten minutes later, Katie Healy's attempt banged off the post and in to give the Bloodhounds a 2-0 lead.  John Jay then increased its advantage to 3-0 on Medina Mulic's goal in the 64th minute.

Langkamp was credited with 10 saves in a losing effort.  John Jay goalkeeper Brittany Shaneberger, meanwhile, stopped two Beaver shots.

CCNY will be the No. 3 seed in the CUNYAC Tournament and visit No. 2 Lehman (4-10-0, 4-1-0 CUNYAC) next Saturday in the semifinals.  The Lightning earned a 2-1 victory when the teams met on Sept. 25.
