PURCHASE, NY -- On Tuesday night, the City College of New York women's soccer team concluded non-conference play by visiting Purchase. Playing on the Purchase College Turf Field for the second straight game, the Beavers (5-7-0) came up on the short end of a 3-2 decision against the host Panthers (6-3-0).
CCNY got on the board first when
Susan Aracena (Riverdale, NY) put one away to the high far post in the 42nd minute. Purchase went in front on a pair of Rebecca Colgan goals before
Maria Tomais (Cortlandt Manor, NY) netted the equalizer in the 75th minute. She took a feed from
Ingrid Rosario (Ozone, NY) and fire a shot that bounced in off the crossbar.
However, Colgan sent one past
Catherine Langkamp (Bronx, NY) in the 82nd minute to complete the hat trick. That would prove to be the game-winner, as Purchase held on for a 3-2 victory.
Aracena's goal was her first of the season. Tomais, meanwhile, netted her fourth tally of the year, and Rosario's assist was her league-leading sixth in 2019. Langkamp made seven saves in a losing effort.
Purchase goalkeeper Amber Yarter was credited with four saves, all of which came in the second half. In addition to Colgan's three goals, Brett Robison tallied an assist for the Panthers.
The Beavers will now have two weeks off before returning to action. CCNY (2-1-0 CUNYAC) resumes its CUNYAC schedule with a 7 p.m. matchup against York (0-8-0, 0-2-0 CUNYAC) at Randall's Island on Oct. 23.
