GALLOWAY, NJ -- Despite a career-high 34 points from
Reilly Boehm (Orlando, FL), the most by a City College of New York women's basketball player in nearly four years, the Beavers (0-3) suffered an 88-53 loss to Pitt-Greensburg (2-1) on Saturday afernoon in the consolation game of the Stockton Tip-Off Tournament at The Sports Center.
Boehm, who had 25 points on Saturday, played all 40 minutes for the second straight day and averaged 29.5 points per game in the tournament. Her 34 points are the most in a game by a CCNY woman since
Erika Richards dropped 37 against Lehman in the CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) semifinals on Feb. 24, 2016.
Tianna Fumasoli (Elizaville, NY) just missed a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.
Harlean Williams (Staten Island, NY), meanwhile, finished with seven points and eight boards.
Melanie Torres (Queens, NY) added five rebounds for the Beavers, who shot 25 percent (15-of-60) from the field, 27.3 percent (6-of-22) from long range, and 68 percent (17-of-25) at the free throw line.
For the Bobcats, Shaquoia McCrary had a double-double with 16 points and 20 rebounds. Maddie Sitler tallied a team-high 17 points, while Colleen Murphy and Lizzie Penrose recorded 13 points apiece. Nadege Durand finished with 11 points and six rebounds, and LeAnn Harris grabbed 10 boards. Sidney McCulley secured eight rebounds, as Pitt-Greensburg held a 62-38 edge on the glass. The Bobcats shot 40.7 percent (35-of-86) from the floor, 24 percent (6-of-25) from three-point land, and 75 percent (12-of-16) at the charity stripe.
Pitt-Greensburg raced out to a 34-10 lead after the first quarter and extended their advantage to 58-20 at the break. The cushion reached a game-high 47 points at 70-23 midway through the third quarter, but the Beavers ended the period on a 9-6 spurt to make it a 76-32 game entering the fourth quarter. CCNY then outscored the Bobcats 21-12 over the final 10 minutes to cut the final margin to 35 points, 88-53.
Up next for the Beavers is their home opener on Wednesday night. St. Joseph's Long Island (0-2) will visit Nat Holman Gymnasium for a 6 p.m. matchup.
