Jamaica, N.Y. - The City College of New York men's basketball team held off the Brooklyn College Bulldogs, 77-75, at home on Saturday in conference action for their third straight victory.
The win improves the team to 6-8 in league play, moving up the CUNY Athletic Conference standings into fifth-place.
CCNY built an early 18-6 lead with the Beavers connecting on six out of their first 10 shots in the opening 5:07.
Mike White's three-pointer with 14:53 to go in the half opened up an early 12-point lead.

Ty-Ler Banks inside the paint put the Beavers up 15-points (22-7) for their largest lead of the half.
Brooklyn would answer back with a 14-6 run in the final five minutes of the half and to shave CCNY's lead down to six (36-30) heading into halftime.
CCNY stretched their lead back out to 12 points after starting the second half on a 14-8 run, taking a 50-38 lead with 14:29 remaining in regulation.
With their offense flowing, the Lavender and Black outscored Brooklyn 14-6 in a less than five-minute span to hold their largest lead of the game, 64-46.
But the Bulldogs wouldn't go away easily, responding with a huge 20-4 scoring run late in the game, cutting the Beavers lead down to five with 3:12 left in the contest.
CCNY answered with four points as White connected on two pairs of free throw attempts to give the Beavers an eight-cushion with under two minutes remaining.
With under two minutes on the clock, Brooklyn's Jordan Wright hit a jumper, followed by a three-pointer from Michael Tesoriero that helped the Bulldogs drop the lead down to three points with 1:40 left.
After the Beavers missed a shot to regain the lead, Brooklyn's Anthony McClean drained a shot from beyond the arc to tie the game up a 75-75 with 57 seconds to go.
In the final 40 seconds of the game, CCNY was able to draw two fouls as
Wils Jazilek and
Romello Rashad each converted on one attempt each, giving the team a 77-75 advantage with 17 seconds remaining.
Brooklyn would fail on a last-second three-point chance, as CCNY would pull away to hold off the Bulldogs for the victory.
Banks posted his ninth double-double of the year with a game-high 25 points and 18 rebounds along with three blocks and two steals. Rashad was the spark on the offensive end for the Beavers, finishing with 24 points, five assists, and four rebounds.
White added 14 points, converting six-of-six from the foul line and dished out four assists. Jazilek and sophomore
Adem Gutic contributed six points and four rebounds.
CCNY shot 27-of-67 (41.5 %) from the field and connected on seven three-pointers. The Beavers made 16-of-21 (76.2 %) from the foul line and outrebounded the Bulldogs, holding a 45-40 advantage.
The team hits the road next for their final regular-season road game against the Hunter College Hawks on Monday.
