Jamaica, NY - The CCNY women's basketball team propelled their win streak to five games in a row, defeating the York College Cardinals, 74-54, on the road Tuesday evening.
The win improves the team to 14-8 overall and 9-4 in CUNY Athletic Conference play. With the postseason approaching, the Beavers remain in fourth-place in the conference standings as the regular-season comes to a close.
CCNY controlled the first two quarters, holding the lead from the opening tip.
At the end of the first half, CCNY held a 31-19 advantage, shooting 44.4 % from three-point range and played well defensively, forcing 15 turnovers in the half.
The Beavers started the second half strong, leading by as much as 15 points midway through the third quarter. A 10-4 run to close the period helped CCNY own a 51-33 lead.
Senior
Ashley Brooks scored 24 points and had 11 rebounds for her 11
th double-double of the year. Senior
Debra Chan posted 19 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals in the win.
Sophomore
Crystal Blair registration her ninth double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Junior
Elizabeth Zullo scored in double-figures for the third time this season, finishing with 10 points. Sophomore
Madison LaSalle added five points and three steals
CCNY finished the game with a 40.6 % field goal percentage and 45.0 % from beyond the arc.
CCNY's next contest takes place at home against Brooklyn College on Friday, Feb. 8, as the team host Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night.
