New York, NY —The CCNY men's volleyball program notched its fourth straight win of the season with a 3-0 sweep of the College of Saint Elizabeth on Tuesday evening at the Nat Holman Gymnasium in-conference action.
The Beavers move to 9-4 overall on the season after posting a 25-17, 25-21, 25-15 victory over the Eagles.
The Beavers jumped out to a 9-2 lead after totaling five kills in the early portion of the match. An attacking error by Saint Elizabeth that included an assisted block from
Elijah Parks and
Seth Diaz helped give the Beavers a 10 point lead (16-6), for their largest lead of the set.
After trailing by four points (7-3) to start the set, CCNY put together a 7-3 run to tie the match at 10-10. After 10 lead changes, CCNY took a two-point lead (21-19) over the Eagles late in the match and scored three straight points to end the set.
The Beavers took control early in the third set scoring five straight points to open up a 9-2 lead. CCNY closed the final set on an 11-7 run, finishing the match with their fourth straight sweep of an opponent.
Junior
Seth Diaz led the Lavender & Black as he hit .923 with 12 kills along with three blocks. Freshman
Xhulio Myftari posted 10 kills, five digs, four aces, and two blocks.
Junior
Carlos Maldonado Madrid added nine kills, three digs, and three service aces in the match. Sophomore
Hei Chun Chan compiled up 32 assists and four digs.
The Beavers will next play on Friday, Mar. 15, when they host the St. Joseph's College - Brooklyn.
