BROOKLYN, NY - The City College of New York men's volleyball team racked up its sixth straight win with a four-set victory over Brooklyn College on Thursday.
The victory improves the Beavers to 11-4 overall and 2-2 in CUNY Athletic Conference play.
The Beavers finished the match with a season-high 45 kills and 13 blocks, en route to a 20-25, 25-18, 28-26 and 25-18 victory.
The Beavers were led by career-best nights from freshman
Xhulio Myftari and sophomore
Hei Chun Chan. Myftari posted a near triple-double with a new season-high of 31 kills, 10 digs, and eight blocks along with three services aces. Chan finished with a career-high 41 assists, his eighth 30 plus assist effort of the season.
Junior
Carlos Maldonado Madrid added nine kills and a season-high 14 digs. Sophomore
Elijah Parks had a season-high six blocks, while sophomore
Abdullah Khalid had three blocks and junior
Jonathan Liao chipped in nine digs.
In the first frame, the Bulldogs came out on top, pulling out a 25-20 win.
The Beavers bounced back in the second set, holding Brooklyn to a .000 hitting percentage to earn a 25-18 victory.
The third set, the closest of the three, saw the Lavender & Black grit out a close 28-26 win to go ahead, 2-1.
CCNY recorded a .312 hitting percentage in the final frame, notching 15 kills, cruising to a 25-18 win to seal the match.
CCNY will return to action on Tuesday, March 36 when the Beavers visit Medgar Evers College.
