CCNY Falls in Sunday Matchup against NYU

BROOKLYN, NY - The CCNY baseball team fell in a Sunday afternoon matchup to New York University, 17-4, in non-conference action at MCU Park. 

NYU took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a solo homer from Colman Hendershot. The Violets plated two more runs in the second on two RBI singles, taking a 3-0 lead.

CCNY cut NYU's lead down to one run in the top of the third inning. With two outs, Junior Stephen Peters hit an RBI single to center field for the Beavers first score. Junior Cooper York scored on wild pitch to cut the lead to 2-1.

NYU responded with six runs in the bottom of the third on four hits and two errors, extending their lead to 9-2.

In the fourth, added three runs on a two-run triple by Zane Baker and an RBI single from Austin Stenstedt.

CCNY scored back-to-back runs in the fifth inning, as freshman Josh Moreno reached home on a wild pitch and Peters drove in York on an RBI single to center field.

The Violets added five more runs in the sixth to end the game with a 17-4 victory.

Peters went 2-for-3 with two RBI to lead the Beavers offensively while York and Moreno scored two runs apiece. 

CCNY returns to action on Wednesday, Apr. 3 on the road against Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY.
