Riverdale, N.Y. - On Friday, The City College of New York women's soccer team fell to the College of Mount Saint Vincent in their 2019 season opener by a final score of 4-1.
Mount Saint Vincent got on the board just 4:53 into the match. Caitlin May scored the first goal for the Dolphins, knocking in striking a shot through the upper right corner of the net. Later in the first half, back-to-back goals from Cristina Britton helped the Dolphins build up a 3-0 at halftime.
In the second half, CCNY got on the boards when senior midfielder Gabrielle Duchaussee converted a successful penalty kick.
The Dolphins would add an insurance goal with under 18 minutes left to go, as Georgina Perdomo found the back of the net via a helper from Paulina Mandujano.
The Beavers faced 28 shots and six corner attempts from the Dolphins. CCNY had 15 shots and five corner attempts of its own. Senior Catherine Lampkamp made 10 saves in goal for the Beavers.
Up next, CCNY host Yeshiva University in their home opener on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Kickoff between the Beavers and Maccabees is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. under the lights at Randall's Island.
