Women’s Soccer Blanks Yeshiva in Home Opener, 11-0

New York, N.Y. - In front of a home crowd, the CCNY women's soccer team shutout the Yeshiva University Maccabees, 11-0, on Wednesday night in their home opener.

Freshman Cassidy Canberg led off the scoring for CCNY, netting her first goal of the season for the Beavers after finding a dish from senior Susan Aracena in the fifth minute of the game. In the 15th minute, Canberg tallied her second maker off a helper from Ingrid Rosario.

Later in the first half, senior Gabrielle Duchaussee turned up the throttle, scoring five straight unassisted goals in a 10-minute span to give the Beavers a 7-0 lead over the Maccabees.

Canberg netted the final goal of the first half for the Lavender & Black, knocking in another shot off an assist from Aracena.

CCNY enter halftime with an 8-0 advantage.

Rosario and newcomer Renee Ramlochan both netted goals in the second half to extend CCNY's lead to 10-0. Canberg scored her fourth and the final goal for the Beavers in the 76th minute to hand CCNY an 11-0 victory over Yeshiva.

Senior goalkeeper Catherine Langkamp picked up her first win and shutout of the season, while junior Gabrielle Cillibrasi recorded two saves.

The Beavers outshot the Maccabees, 23-2, holding a 19-2 advantage in shots on goal. The Beavers also held a 5-0 edge in corner kicks in the win.

The Beavers will look to keep the momentum rolling when they hit the road on Saturday against the College of Old Wesbury.
