CCNY Falls to Lehman In CUNYAC Opener

RANDALL'S ISLAND, NY -- On Saturday evening, the City College of New York men's soccer team began CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play with a matchup against Lehman at Randall's Island.  After opening with five straight on the road, the Beavers (0-6-0, 0-1-0 CUNYAC) suffered an 8-0 loss to the Lightning (6-2-0, 1-0-0 CUNYAC) in their first home game of the season.

Lehman had a 2-0 lead at halftime, as Mubarak Ouro scored twice in the opening 45 minutes.  The Lightning then tallied three goals in the first eight minutes of the second half to break the game open.  Ouro finished with four tallies, while Eduardo Victorio had two goals and an assist.  

CCNY's best scoring chance came in the 64th minute, when Bubacarr Jaiteh's (Bakau, Gambia) header was saved by Demiraldo Grunasi. Moustapha Salane (Dakar, Senegal) then had a pair of attempts blocked in the 83rd minute, as Lehman held on for the shutout.

Jaiteh led the Beavers with seven shots, while Kacper Lesniak (Nowy Sacz, Poland) made seven saves.  Four CCNY shots went on net, with Grunasi recording four saves.

Next Saturday, the Beavers return to Randall's Island for another CUNYAC matchup.  Kickoff between CCNY and John Jay (1-4-0, 0-0-0 CUNYAC) is set for 3 p.m.
