Rosario Lifts Beavers to Overtime Victory

RANDALL'S ISLAND, NY -- Ingrid Rosario (Ozone, NY) scored in the 94th minute, as the City College of New York women's soccer team (3-4-0) topped St. Joseph's Brooklyn (6-2-0) 4-3 in overtime on Saturday afternoon at Randall's Island.  Rosario's initial shot was saved, but the rebound went right back to her, and she put it into the lower left corner for the game-winner.

Rosario played a part in all four CCNY goals, finishing the day with six points.  She scored twice and added a pair of assists.

In the 10th minute, she fed Gabrielle Duchaussee (Saratoga Springs, NY) on the breakaway, and Duchasse found the lower left corner to put the Beavers in front 1-0.  It would remain that way until the 53rd minute, when the Bears' Clara Curtiss corralled a loose ball and put it away to tie the game.

After Desarae Sequeira gave St. Joseph's Brooklyn the lead, CCNY responded just 90 seconds later.  Rosario fired a shot that was stopped by goalkeeper Reem Shaban.  Maria Tomais (Cortlandt Manor, NY) was right there for the rebound, though, and she connected to make it a 2-2 game.

CCNY regained the lead in the 65th minute.  Susan Aracena (RIverdale, NY) lined up for a free kick from 30 yards out that she sent directly on goal.  Shaban had trouble handling the shot, and Rosario was there to pounce on the loose ball.  St. Joseph's Brooklyn once again responded, though, as an Anisah Molic deflection tied the score barely a minute later.

Catherine Langkamp (Bronx, NY) made nine saves in the victory, including two point-blank stops late in the second half to keep the game tied.  Shaban, meanwhile, tallied seven saves for the Bears.

The Beavers (0-0-0 CUNYAC) begin conference play on Wednesday night, when they visit Lehman (1-7-0, 1-0-0 CUNYAC) at 6:30 p.m.
