BROOKLYN, NY – The City College of New York women's basketball team continued its three-game road swing on Friday by visiting at CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC)-leading Brooklyn. Playing without the nation's leading scorer
Reilly Boehm (Orlando, FL) for the second consecutive time, the Beavers (2-19, 2-8 CUNYAC) fell to the first-place Bulldogs (16-5, 11-0 CUNYAC) by a 99-10 count at West Quad Gymnasium.
Brooklyn led 35-2 after one quarter and extended its cushion to 66-2 at halftime. The Bulldogs increased their advantage to 87-10 at the end of the third quarter before closing out the 99-10 victory.
Six Bulldogs scored in double-figures, led by Chanel Jemmott's 18 points. She also grabbed eight rebounds. Sarah Labiner had a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards to go along with five blocks. Taylor George, meanwhile, registered 15 points, seven assists and four steals. As a team, Brooklyn shot 44.4 percent (40-of-90) from the field, 37.8 percent (14-of-37) from three-point range, and 71.4 percent (5-of-7) at the free throw line.
Nahomi Zambrano (Bronx, NY) had five points for the Beavers, including CCNY's only three-pointer of the contest.
Tianna Fumasoli (Elizaville, NY) pulled down four rebounds, while
Melanie Torres (Queens, NY) contributed four boards and three steals.
CCNY returns to action with a 6 p.m. matchup at Medgar Evers (5-15, 1-9 CUNYAC) on Monday. The Beavers won the first meeting of the season with the Cougars, 60-50, on Jan. 6.
