Second Half Comeback Falls Short at Baruch, 6-4

New York, NY - A solid second-half comeback fell short for the CCNY men's soccer team on Wednesday evening, as the Beavers dropped their first conference game of the season to Baruch College, 6-4. The Beavers fall to 3-5 overall, and 3-1 in CUNY Athletic Conference play.

The Bearcats opened the contest with a strong offensive showing, scoring five unanswered goals in the first period. Baruch's Cormac Foley led the attack for the Bearcats, netting four goals in the period.

The Beavers answered back in the 48th minute of action as freshman Adrian Montalvan netted CCNY's first goal off a feed pass from junior John Yauri. At the 59:27 mark, Konstatine Mendrinos found the back of the net for CCNY's second score.

In the 69th minute, Baruch's Foley found the back of the net for his fifth goal of the evening, extending the Bearcats lead, 6-2. 

In the 87th minute, CCNY cut the deficit to three, 6-3, when Roberth Inga scored his first goal of the season.

The Beaver's fourth goal came on an own goal by Baruch in the 88th minute.

Freshman keeper Mikhael Torres notched three saves in the match.

Overall, CCNY and Baruch were even in shots taken in the contest, totaling 14 shots apiece. 

Next, the Beavers return home to host Hunter College on Saturday, Oct. 16, at Randall's Island - Field 10. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
