Men's Soccer Falls to Baruch in CUNYAC Semifinals, 1-0

New York, NY – The City College of New York men's soccer team fell in the semifinal round of the CUNY Athletic Conference Championship Tournament on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Baruch College Bearcats.

Both teams played to a deadlocked first half. The Beavers had the edge on the offensive end, outshooting the Bearcats 6-0 in the period.

In the second half, CCNY had ten shots, including four on goal across the first 40 minutes of the second period that were all stopped.

With under three minutes remaining in regulation, a late foul by CCNY set up the Bearcats with a free-kick opportunity. After a series of tabs, Baruch's Nicholas Bilotti knocked in the shot to hand the Bearcats the match's first goal.

The Beavers had one more scoring opportunity in the final minute of regulation, but the Bearcats denied the shot to escape with the victory.

CCNY outshot Baruch 17-5 and had a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks despite the loss.

Sophomore Amadou Barry led CCNY with four shots in the game. Andrey Goryuk, John Yauri, Nicholas Karkut, Cheik Diakite, and Konstatine Mendrinos each a pair of shot in the contest.

Freshman John Creegan started in goal for the Beavers, making one save.

Next, the Beavers conclude the season in a non-conference match against Yeshiva University on Sunday, Nov. 7, at Randall's Island - Field 10 at 7:00 p.m.
