Women’s Soccer Shutouts Lehman at Home, 2-0

New York, NY - On their home turf Wednesday evening, the CCNY women's soccer team earned their third shutout of the season, defeating Lehman College, 2-0.

With the victory, the Beavers improve to 4-5 overall.

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the CCNY Women's Soccer program dedicated their match tonight and their remaining games this month to support the fight against Breast Cancer!

The Beavers controlled the pace of the contest from the opening tip. CCNY held the advantage in shots, outshooting Lehman, 29-1, landing 19 shots on goal.

Reigning CUNYAC Rookie of the Week, Charlotte Foberg found the back of the net first for the Beavers, netting her fourth goal of the year in the 38th minute of play. Classmate Laura Villatoro set up Foberg's score, needle threading an assist through two Lehman defenders, as the Beavers took an early 1-0 lead.

In the second period, the Beavers added another goal to double their lead. At the 65:57 mark, sophomore Cassidy Canberg, current CUNYAC Player of the Week, drew a foul within the box, leading to a successfully converted penalty kick. The goal was Canberg ninth of the season.

Freshman Rosario Baltazar started her sixth match in goal for the Beavers, improving to 3-3. The Bronx, New York native faced only one shot in the contest, recording one save.

Next, the Beavers return to the competition on Wednesday, October 13, welcoming Brooklyn College to Randall's Island - Field 10 for a 6:30 p.m. matchup.
