Sakhi Nets Career-High 29 points; Men's Basketball Downs Ramapo on the Road, 82-76

Mahwah, NJ - The City College of New York men's basketball squad picked up an impressive win on Wednesday night, taking down Ramapo College, 82-76, on the road. The win bumps the Beavers to 3-2 overall.

The Beavers shot 40 percent from beyond the arc and connected on 32 assists in the contest, their best season performances. Sophomore Yassine Sakhi paced the Beavers with a career-high 29 points, knocking down a career-best five three-pointers in the victory. He also had three assists and two steals.

Senior Joey Leighton finished with 15 points, nailing four three-pointers, and picked up a season-high five assists and four rebounds. Junior Dashaun Galloway added 15 points, six rebounds, six assists, and a pair of steals in 33 minutes of play.

Sophomore Amir Assani tallied 13 points, four rebounds, two blocks, and two steals. Freshman Elijah Patterson posted four points, seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals, while freshman Bayame Bah netted four points, along with seven rebounds.

The Beavers opened the game with the hot hand in the first half, hitting their first seven out of nine shots from the field to hold a seven-point lead (20-13) with 13:39 to go in the half. Back-to-back three-pointers from Leighton and Sakhi lifted CCNY to a 13-point lead (30-17) with under 11 minutes to go. 

The Roadrunners closed out the half strong, outscoring CCNY 24-13 across the final ten of the half to cut the Beavers lead margin to two points at halftime, 43-41.

The Beavers started the second half strong offensively, using a 24-11 run to extend their lead to 67-52 with under ten minutes left in the contest. 

A three-pointer from Ramapo's Marquise Kindel cut the Beavers led to single-digits, 78-71, with a minute left in regulation. Assani nailed a pair of free throws to put the Beavers up by eight (81-73) with 47 seconds on the clock.  

Ramapo cut into the Beaver's lead again, hitting another three-pointer with 43 left seconds remaining to bring the game within five points (81-76).

A late foul by Ramapo and made free throw from Leighton with 35 seconds left sealed the 82-76 victory for CCNY.

Next, the Beavers return to New York City for the third game of their five-game road trip, traveling to take on the Maritime College on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 1:00 p.m.
