New York, NY - The City College of New York men's basketball program welcomed John Jay College to campus on Monday for a Martin Luther King Jr. Day CUNY Athletic Conference contest at the Nat Holman Gymnasium with the Beavers falling late to the Bloodhounds, 80-73.
The Beavers had three double-digit scorers, with junior Daniel Piszczatowski leading CCNY with a season-high 20 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Sophomore Amir Assani tallied his third double-double in four games, ending with 12 points, 12 rebounds, and a pair of assists. Freshman Elijah Patterson scored in double-figures for the third consecutive contest, matching his season-high of ten points while picking up five rebounds and three assists off the bench for the Beavers.
Junior Dashaun Galloway garnered ten assists, six points, six steals, four rebounds, and a block. Sophomore Yassine Sakhi finished with nine points, five rebounds, and two assists. Senior Joey Leighton came away with eight points, three rebounds, and four rebounds, while freshman Bayame Bah netted in six points.
The Beavers shot a season-high 51.6% from the field, converting a season-high 33 made field goals in the contest. CCNY owned the rebounding advantage, outrebounding John Jay 40-to-32.
Next, the Beavers continue conference play on Wednesday night, taking on Brooklyn College on the road at 7:15 p.m.
