New Rochelle, NY - The City College of New York men's soccer team dropped their second-straight match on Saturday night, falling on the road to Hunter College in CUNY Athletic Conference play, 1-0. The Beavers drop to 2-6-1.
CCNY withstood Hunter's aggressive offense in the first half, as the Hawks outshot the Beavers, 4-1, with three shots on goal attempts.
Late in the second half, the hawks took advantage of a penalty inside the box, setting up Bradley Espejo to net the game-winner off a successful penalty kick.
Junior
Erik Jimenez was responsible for three of CCNY's five shots, tallying two shots on goal. He started in his first collegiate action. Sophomores
Adrian Montalvan and
Yusuf Abdelmegid each recorded a shot in the match.
In goal, sophomore
Mikhael Torres started the match in goal, making one save. Freshman
Carlos Garcia finished the game in net in the second half, making two stops.
Next, the Beavers return to host Lehman College on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Randall's Island - Field 10 at 7:00 p.m.
