Brooklyn, NY - The City College of New York men's soccer closed conference play on Saturday afternoon, defeating York College on the road, 3-2. The Beavers improve to 3-7-1 and 2-5 in conference play.
Junior
Erik Jimenez tallied the Beaver's first goal in the seventh minute, off an assist from freshman
Hazim Naji. Jimenez doubled back in the 26th minute, netting his second goal of the afternoon with an aided assist from freshman
Federico Ciandri.
In the 37th minute, the Cardinals cut the Beaver's lead in half when Doston Abdigaffarov chipped in a shot for York's first score of the match. The Cardinals found the back of the net once again before the end of the half when Kervin Mondesir netted the goal to even to contest, 2-2.
In the second half, sophomore
Peter Gjini nailed in the game-winner for the Beavers, knocking in a shot off a corner kick assist from
Antony Sumba.
In goal, freshman
Carlos Garcia earned his first win in net.
Next, the Beavers will take on John Jay College in the 2022 CUNY Athletic Conference Championships' quarterfinals on Wednesday, October 26.
