New York, NY - The City College of New York women's soccer team continued the conference play on Wednesday, defeating Brooklyn College in the home opener, 8-0.
With the win, the Beavers improve to 5-5 overall and 2-0 in CUNYAC play.
Sophomore Karen Pineda opened the scoring 2:52 into the contest, finishing a cross pass from junior MacKenzie Moreno. In the tenth minute, freshman Maria Chartzoulakis netted her colligate goal off a feed from junior Charlotte Foberg.
In the 16th minute, Moreno tallied her third goal of the season, finding a pass from Lennon Leithauser, lifting the Beavers to a 3-0 lead. Pineda netted back-to-back goals in the 26th and 58th minutes to complete her first career hat trick.
In the 65th minute, Foberg set up senior Sharon Garcia for her first goal of the season.
Freshman Gazalle Dunphy tallied her second goal of the season at 71:55, knocking in a shot aided by an assist from Garica. Garcia then picked up her second of the day off a feed from Leithauser in the 84th minute to hand CCNY an 8-0 shut out over the Bulldogs
Sophomore keeper Amelia Cataldo tallied one save in the match, recording her first shutout of the season.
Next, the Beavers travel to take on Lehman College on Friday, Oct. 13, at 6:00 p.m.
