CCNY's Yassine Sakhi Passes 1,500 Career Points; Beavers Defeat USMMA at Home, 78-67

New York, NY - The City College of New York men's basketball team turned in an impressive offensive performance Monday evening, defeating the United States Merchant Marine Academy, 78-67, at the Nat Holman Gymnasium. 

The Beavers improve to 6-4 overall with the win, while the Mariners drop to 4-6.

Senior guard Yassine Sakhi made history, passing 1,500 career points, and moved to 32nd on the CUNY Athletic Conferences' all-time scorers list with 1,519 points. He currently sits as CCNY's second all-time leading scorer. Sakhi finished the evening with a team-high 21 points and a game-high eight assists in 30 minutes of action. Junior Chris Stone dialed up 20 points, connecting on 7-of-9 from the field, including 4-for-5 from beyond the arc. He also added six rebounds and three assists.

Sophomore Ricardo Dixon posted his second double-double of the season, ending with 17 points and 15 rebounds, along with three assists and three blocks. Junior Edward Beqiri added six points, five rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block in the win. Junior Elijah Patterson notched six points and four rebounds. Sophomore Kayson Dinkins had six points, while junior Jordan Williams finished with two points, three rebounds, and a steal.

The Beavers shot a season-high 52.7 percent from the floor and dished out 20 assists in the contest, their second-best performances of the season. 

Next, the Beavers will return to action hosting Houghton University on Friday, Dec. 22, at 1:00 p.m.
