New York, NY - The City College of New York men's volleyball team opened the 2023 season with a three-set sweep over the Yeshiva University Maccabees on the road Thursday night.
The win marks the first career victory leading the men's volleyball program for Interim Head Coach Vaughn Ford.
CCNY took the first set over Yeshiva, 25-16. The Beavers controlled the second set, earning a 25-15 win. In the third frame, CCNY closed the match with a 25-16 win en route to their three-set victory.
Freshman Ricky Li led the Beavers with a match-high 14 kills and nine digs in his debut for the Beavers. Freshman Ethan Sherpa tallied ten kills and four service aces in the win. Junior Jeffrey Celis finished with seven kills, ten digs, and four aces.
Freshman David Reyes Galvez dished out a match-high 31 assists in his debut for Beavers. Sophomore Tenzin Tsepak ended with four kills and four digs, while sophomore Edwin Fierros Gaytan notched four digs.
Next, the Beavers travel to take on St. Joseph's University - Brooklyn on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 7:00 p.m.
