New York, NY - The CCNY men's volleyball team lost a tight battle to Baruch College, falling in three sets to the Bearcats on Tuesday evening at home. With the loss, the Beavers drop to 10-6 overall and 5-6 in CUNY Athletic Conference play.
The Bearcats edged out CCNY in the first set 25-20, closing out the frame with an 8-4 run. In the second set, Baruch took set 25-20, holding an advantage over the Beavers on the offensive end behind a .409 hitting percentage. In the final frame, Bauch secured a 25-17 set victory.
Junior
Jeffrey Celis led CCNY with eight kills, eight digs, and four assists. Freshman
Ethan Sherpa piled up a match-high ten digs and three digs. Sophomore
Edwin Fierros Gaytan finished with a team-high 16 assists and three digs.
Antonio Oliveira-Nurse tallied three blocks, while
Prabodh KC had four kills.
Next, the Beavers host York College on Saturday, April 1, in the final regular season home match. First serve is set for 12:00 p.m. at the Nat Holman Gymnasium.
