Throggs Neck, NY - The City College of New York women's volleyball pulled out all the stops on Thursday night, outlasting Maritime College in a thrilling five-set (25-21, 23-25, 23-25, 27-25, 15-13) on the road.
With the victory, CCNY improves to 3-3 on the season.
Junior
Bianka Catral led the Beavers, finishing the night with 13 kills, a career-high 25 digs, and five aces while recording her sixth career double-double. Junior
Viviana Alatorre boosted 36 assists, a new career-high, along with 13 digs, four aces, and two kills.
Arianna Rivas had 12 kills and three digs.
Fatimah Coppin collected eight kills, three aces, and 13 digs. Freshman
Rosalynda Russo tallied a career-high 25 digs and four aces. Freshman
Maria Popova finished with four kills, seven digs, two aces, and two blocks. Sophomore
Nila Tom had six kills and a block.
Next, the Beavers return to competition on Tuesday, Sept. 19, when they travel downtown to take on John Jay College at 7:00 p.m. in CUNY Athletic Conference play.
