Jamaica, NY—On Saturday afternoon, the CCNY women's soccer team lost to John Jay College, 3-2, in their CUNY Athletic Conference opener. The loss drops the Beavers to 1-8-1 on the season and 0-1 in CUNYAC play.
The Bloodhounds found the back of the net first in the sixth minute as Olivia Boucher connected on a shot to put John Jay ahead.
Inside the 18th minute, sophomore
Sara Rodriguez answered back for the Beavers, connecting a free kick from 15 yards to even the match, 1-1.
In the second half, the Beavers took the lead in the 47th minute as senior
MacKenzie Moreno found the back of the net off an assist from
Jessica Fuentes.
In the 67th minute, John Jay's Anna Wehr netted a goal off an assist from Mikayla Schoch to tie the match, 2-2.
With the match tied going down the stretch, Schoch nailed the game-winner for the Bloodhounds in the closing second of the match.
Senior
Laila Issa made seven saves in goal for the Beavers. John Jay outshot CCNY 16-9, including a 10-7 edge in shots on goal.
Next, the Beavers return to competition on Monday, Oct. 14, on the road against Bard College at 12:00 p.m.
