CCNY's Roger Gonzalez Earns CUNYAC Coach of the Year, Yanis Hamdi Pacha Named Rookie of the Year, Four Beavers Named to All-Star Team

New York, NY - The CUNY Athletic Conference unveiled the 2024 Men's Soccer All-Stars team and major award winners on Thursday. For CCNY, Head Coach Roger Gonzalez was named the conference's Coach of the Year, while freshman Yanis Hamdi Pacha was voted the league's Rookie of the Year. In addition, the program had four student-athletes named to the All-Star Team. 

Coach of the Year - Roger Gonzalez
In his first season, Gonzalez helped lead a turnaround of the men's soccer program, propelling the Beavers to greater heights. He led the Beavers to the CUNYAC semifinals, their first appearance since 2021, clinching the No.2 seed. The Beavers finished the season with a 5-7-4 overall and completed league play unbeaten with a 5-0-2 mark, their best finish since 2015.

Rookie of the Year - Yanis Hamdi Pacha
Hamdi Pacha made an immediate impact in the midfield in his first collegiate season en route to becoming the first Beavers to earn CUNYAC Rookie of the Year honors since ----. He led CCNY in goals (4), points (8), and game-winning goals (2) while tallying 23 shots and eight shots on goal.

First Team - Carlos Garcia
In his third season, junior Carlos Garcia. He made a season-career-high 71 saves in goal and recorded four shutouts. He leads the conference in saves and goals-against average of 1.139. Garcia made a career-high 13 saves (10/2).

First Team - Adonijah Brooks
Senior Adonijah Brooks closes out his playing career at CCNY, earning his second All-Conference recognition as a defender. Brooks helped lead the Beaver's defense, starting in 11 out of 12 matches, helping lead CCNY to six shutout victories. In addition, he tallied two goals, 10 shots, and four points.

First Team - Peter Gjini
Senior Peter Gjini earned his first CUNYAC All-Star nod. Staring in 14 out of 16 matches, Gjini finished the season, totaling three goals, six points, and a team-leading 27 shots, helping guide the program to a resurgence in 2024.

Second Team -Aliou Ndiaye
Junior Aliou Ndiaye garners his first CUNYAC All-Star honor after helping lead the Beavers performance this season. Starting in 15 matches this season, Ndiaye recorded four assists, one goal, six points, 21 shots, and 10 shots on goal.
