Brooklyn, NY – The City College of New York women's soccer team is heading to the CUNYAC Championship after a decisive 2–0 win over Brooklyn College in Saturday's semifinal matchup.
After a tightly contested first half, freshman Marjorie Placencia broke the deadlock in the 66th minute, firing home her fourth goal of the season to give the Beavers the lead. Freshman 
Sara Dos Santos doubled the advantage in the 78th minute, finishing a through ball from junior 
Sara Rodriguez to seal the victory.
CCNY's defense stood firm throughout the match, limiting Brooklyn's opportunities and earning a shutout behind senior goalkeeper 
Laila Issa, who made three key saves over 90 minutes.
Placencia and Dos Santos led the Beavers offensively with goals, while Rodriguez added an assist. CCNY recorded 10 total shots, six on goal, and controlled possession for much of the second half.
With the win, CCNY advances to the CUNYAC Championship, where they will face top-seeded John Jay College on Saturday, November 8th.
