Brooklyn, NY - The City College of New York women's basketball team closed out the St. Joseph's Brooklyn Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday afternoon, falling to the host Bears, 81–37, in the tournament finale.
CCNY opened with its strongest quarter of the day, putting up 15 points behind early shot-making from junior
Ashley Colon, who led the Beavers with 14 points, six rebounds, and two steals across 37 minutes. However, St. Joseph's responded with a decisive run to close the period and continued to build momentum, outscoring CCNY in each of the remaining frames.
Freshman
Blessings Joseph-Pascall added eight points and four rebounds, while sophomore
Ashley Subervi pulled down a team-high eight boards to go along with three points and two assists. Senior
Joscelyn Ramos chipped in three points and dished out five assists, and sophomore
Amanda Fisher provided a spark off the bench with four points, five rebounds, and two assists.
Despite a competitive start and a strong rebounding effort (32 team rebounds), CCNY struggled from the free-throw line (6-for-21) and from the field overall, allowing St. Joseph's to extend its lead throughout the contest.
With the loss, CCNY moves to 0–4 on the season. The Beavers return to action on Wednesday, November 19, when they host New Jersey City University at 7:00 PM in their home opener at Nat Holman Gymnasium.
