New York, NY — The City College of New York women's basketball team dropped a non-conference matchup to DeSales University, 92–22, on Monday evening at Nat Holman Gymnasium.
DeSales set the tone early, opening the game on a 27–3 first quarter and carrying a 51–9 lead into halftime. The Bulldogs' pressure defense and transition offense created separation throughout the night, as DeSales finished with 40 points off turnovers and 46 points in the paint.
CCNY continued to compete through the final two quarters and showed flashes of energy late. The Beavers scored 10 points in the fourth quarter, their most productive period, highlighted by baskets from
Blessings Joseph-Pascall,
Joscelyn Ramos, and
Erisairy Calderon.
Joseph-Pascall led CCNY with six points and added three steals, while Ramos also finished with six points and three steals. Sophomore
Ashley Subervi provided a bright spot on the glass, pulling down 10 rebounds to anchor CCNY's interior effort.
DeSales was balanced offensively, placing six players in double figures and shooting 50 percent from the field. Lindsay Bednarek paced the Bulldogs with 14 points, while Mikaili Donmoyer added 13 points.
The Beavers move to 2–8 on the season and will prepare for their next CUNYAC on Wednesday, January 7, on the road against York College at 5:00 p.m.
