Brooklyn, NY - The City College of New York men's basketball team dropped its CUNYAC opener on Thursday night, falling to Brooklyn College 74–44 at the West Quad Center.
CCNY put together a strong opening 20 minutes, trailing by just three at halftime, 35–32, behind efficient free-throw shooting and competitive play on the glass. However, Brooklyn surged in the second half, outscoring the Beavers 39–12 as CCNY struggled to convert from the field, closing the night at 21 percent overall and 2-of-26 from beyond the arc.

Justin Morety led the Beavers with an impressive 20-point performance, going 9-for-10 at the line and collecting two rebounds and three steals. Senior
Michael Bowman added six points and a game-high six rebounds, while freshman
Olabanjo Aborisade provided a spark off the bench with seven points and eight boards. Freshman
Samuel Olubakin chipped in four points and four rebounds, and freshman
Komron Ergashev and junior
Zach Peysakhovich added two each.
Brooklyn countered with a balanced offensive effort, led by Thomas Hall (15 points, eight rebounds) and Joe Charles (13 points, eight rebounds), while maintaining control inside with a 38–20 advantage in the paint and a 55–36 edge on the boards. The Bulldogs' depth also paid off, with 35 bench points contributing to the separation in the second half.
With the loss, CCNY falls to 0–6 overall and 0–1 in CUNYAC play, while Brooklyn improves to 3–7 and 1–0 in the conference. The Beavers will look to regroup as they continue league play at home against Hunter College on Thursday, December 11 at 7:00 p.m.
