CCNY's Late Surge Falls Just Short in 14-10 Loss to Baruch in CUNYAC Baseball Championship Finale

Throggs Neck, NY - In the finale of the 2025 CUNY Athletic Conference Baseball Championship Series, The City College of New York baseball team mounted a dramatic late-game comeback but ultimately fell just short in a 14–10 loss to Baruch College on Sunday afternoon at Reinhart Field.

"We showed tremendous heart today," said Head Coach, Scott Losche. "This team never stopped believing, and I couldn't be prouder of the fight they showed from the first pitch to the last out."Ā

Despite trailing by as many as eight runs in the sixth inning, the Beavers refused to back down, igniting the stadium with a furious six-run rally in the bottom of the seventh to nearly erase the deficit. Junior Kevin Budzinski led the charge with a clutch bases-clearing double, part of his 3-for-5 day at the plate that included four RBIs and a stolen base. CCNY collected 22 hits in total—a season-high—and showcased relentless offensive pressure throughout the game.

Junior Erik Rank was a force from the middle of the order, going 4-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI, while freshman Jason Roser chipped in four hits and two RBIs. Junior Rich Cirigliano and senior Victor Murra Schott combined for four doubles, keeping the Baruch defense under constant stress.Ā

Freshman starter Gerard Molinaro (1–3) took the loss after 3.0 innings of work, but it was the bullpen's effort—especially from freshman Samuel Puttock, who pitched four innings and struck out four—that helped stabilize the game and keep CCNY within striking distance.Ā

The Beavers finish the 2025 season with a 13-14 overall.
