Box Score Purchase, NY - The City College of New York women's volleyball team picked up its first victory of the 2025 campaign on Thursday night, defeating Purchase College in straight sets (3–0). The win also marks the first career victory at CCNY for Head Coach Perla Sanchez.
With the win, CCNY improves to 1–6 overall on the season.
The Beavers showcased a balanced offensive attack and strong defensive effort throughout the match. Graduate Student Gia Skenderi led the way with a match-high 10 kills to go along with three service aces and 10 digs, recording her first double-double of the season. Senior Serena Warner added seven kills and four blocks at the net, while sophomore Ivanna Zamora Sanchez delivered six kills and a match-best five aces.
Setting the tone offensively, freshman Danuzia Caixeta Palmer distributed 21 assists and added three service aces of her own. Defensively, junior Rosalynda Russo matched Skenderi with 10 digs, and sophomore Rachael Reyes contributed eight digs and a block.
The Beavers return to action on Saturday, September 20, on the road against the University of Mount Saint Vincent at noon.
