CCNY Women’s Basketball Battles at Baruch

New York, NY — The City College of New York women's basketball team battled throughout four quarters but came up short in an 82–70 CUNYAC road loss to Baruch College on Wednesday evening at the ARC Arena.

CCNY (3-10, 1-4 CUNYAC) was led by a strong offensive night from junior Ashley Colon, who poured in a game-high 25 points, knocking down nine field goals and going a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line. Freshman Blessings Joseph-Pascall added an all-around performance with 17 points, eight assists, and four rebounds, while senior Joscelyn Ramos chipped in 10 points and five rebounds.

The Beavers kept things tight early, trailing just 18–17 after the first quarter, but Baruch used a sharp-shooting second period to gain separation. The Bearcats shot 73.3 percent from the field in the second quarter, outscoring CCNY 25–14 to take a 43–31 halftime lead.

Coming out of the break, CCNY showed resilience, matching Baruch's physicality and cutting into the deficit behind strong interior play. The Beavers outscored the Bearcats in the paint and forced turnovers that led to transition opportunities, but Baruch maintained control heading into the fourth.

CCNY made a late push in the final period, scoring 24 points in the quarter, its highest output of the game, but Baruch answered key baskets down the stretch to secure the win.

Baruch (7-9, 3-2 CUNYAC) was paced by Isabella Kostyal-Larrier, who finished with 23 points, while Lillianna Morales recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. The Bearcats held a 44–33 rebounding advantage and capitalized on second-chance opportunities to maintain their lead.

Despite the loss, CCNY finished with 38 points in the paint and forced 22 Baruch turnovers, showing flashes of grit and offensive balance as conference play continues.

The Beavers will look to bounce back as they return home on Friday, January 16, hosting Medgar Evers College at the Nat Holman Gymnasium at 5:00 p.m.
